How It Works
From raw data to your perfect paddle.
We combine numbers from labs with opinions from real reviewers, then blend it all into one transparent score. Here's exactly how.
Collect lab performance data
Independent testing labs measure every paddle with machines — not opinions. We pull structured numbers for the metrics that actually matter on court.
Gather independent reviews
We read reviews from trusted, independent sources — not brand marketing. Each review is scored for sentiment (how positive or negative) and tagged with who wrote it and how much evidence they provided.
Independent long-form reviews with on-court testing
YouTube reviewers with court-testing footage
Reddit owner impressions and customer aggregates
Brand-hosted pages and retailer ratings (selection bias)
Score review quality
Not all reviews are equal. We grade each paddle's evidence into four tiers based on how much independent, detailed testing backs it up.
Blend into one score
Lab numbers and reviewer opinions are normalized to the same 0–1 scale, then combined using category-specific weights. The blend changes depending on what you're looking for.
Default "Best Overall" blend — you can adjust these weights in the explorer.
Rank & recommend
Paddles are ranked within categories — by playing style (power, control, spin, all-court), by experience level (beginner, intermediate, advanced), and by your custom weights. Every score links back to its source data so you can verify it yourself.
Our Principles
What we believe about paddle recommendations.
Transparent
Every score can be traced back to its source data. No black boxes, no hidden affiliate bias.
Evidence-weighted
Paddles with more independent testing evidence get more reliable scores. Thin evidence is flagged, not hidden.
Numbers + opinions
Lab data tells you what the paddle does. Reviews tell you how it feels. You need both.
Always improving
New reviews and lab data are ingested regularly. Scores update as evidence grows.
